National Test Station

Here you se the description of the test at The National Test Station

The purpose of the test of bull calves at The National Test Station is to achieve knowledge about the genetic value of the bull regarding growth, feed efficiency and muscularity.
Moreover the exterior is evaluated by the linear method and the staff at the test station documents the docility of the bull a number of times during the test period.

The test

The test of each bull is performed at The National Test Station in Aalestrup.

The test periode is 5 month – from 225 days to 365 days of age.

Free access to feed

Registration of:

Weigth everly 28th day
Feed consumption during the testperiode
The area of the big muscle in the back are measured 3 times, when the bull is 10, 11 and 12 month old

Docility is evaluated 11 times during the test periode.

Calculation of the genetic value of the bull through indices (average 100):

Growth, T-index
Muscularity through ultrasound measurements, U-index
Feed efficiency, FEF-index

The bull are exterior evaluated by the linear method at the end of the test, Conformation index.

Indices

Data from the test at The National Test Station is used when all the indices of the bull is re-calculated.
