Danish Limousine originates from France. In 1969-70 Denmark as the fourth country in the world imported Limousines from France. Since then animals, embryos and seamen have frequently been imported in order to introduce new blood lines.
In Denmark there are more than 8.000 purebred cows in the herd book as well as 20.000 crossbreds. Good fertility, early age at first calving, easy calving and vital calves result in many living calves in the herds. These calves are the butcher’s choise.
The extensive and effective effort performed by The Danish Limousine Society results in worldwide recognition and makes Denmark one of the leading Limousine countries in the world.
The huge progress of the Limousine breed in Denmark is caused by the breed’s superior carcass quality. That’s why Limousine has become the most common and popular suckler cow in Denmark.
